Client’s background
Doktor is the leading hybrid telepsychiatry service in Australia providing quality mental health care, both in-person and virtually. They provide easy access to internationally qualified and experienced psychiatrists from the comfort of one’s home, GP office or community health center.
The Goal
Doktor’s website is aimed at patients who require psychiatric help, and its main purpose is to encourage visitors to book an appointment for face-to-face appointments or virtual sessions.
Doktor knew the importance of UX in today’s digital age, with more searches now performed on mobile than desktop. They opted for a modern and responsive site that would provide an engaging, well-designed experience for their users and lead to more consultations. They also wanted to convey a friendly and approachable vibe across the website.
To provide the most optimal user experience, we set some simple goals that we wanted to achieve with the website:
Responsive: Device-agnostic responsive site built using a mobile-first approach
Site speed: Load times less than 2 seconds for optimum user experience
Navigation: Intuitive architecture and easy to navigate website
Future-proof: Low maintenance and future-friendly design
But most importantly, the website should act as the perfect companion for online visitors and provide any information they need within a couple of clicks, such as filtering therapist profiles according to their specialization, viewing specialist’s bio, booking appointments, and getting information about health insurance plans and so on.
The Process
Mood Boarding
We provided a few options to client through different mood boards as they wanted to get a feel of what the actual product might look like.
Moodboards help in providing a clear idea of what the actual look and feel will be.
Sketching and Wireframing
Doktor’s psychiatrists have expertise in various subspecialties and the website had to be designed so visitors can easily access the most suitable doctor for their needs.
After gathering all the crucial information, the designers worked out the structure for various sections of the website on paper. We designed a clear and intuitive homepage and site navigation.
After shaping the idea, we created a digital prototype using Figma and explained our vision to the client. After the client’s approval, we began developing the website.
Development
To make the website visually soothing and appealing for visitors, we deliberately chose a combination of calm pastel colors – Green is a symbol of medicine and well-being, and Pink is related to care and kindness – with a white background and plenty of white space. Working with color, especially in a project like this was a fun and challenging task.
The website copy, typography, and imagery were carefully developed to exemplify Doktor’s professionalism and expertise and at the same time feel approachable for the visitors to book a consultation.
We placed two clear Call To Action above the fold. One to Book an Appointment and the other, a list of doctors categorized by specialty. We finished with a modern layout for the rest of the sections, accessible through smooth transitions between pages.
