Midea is a globally recognized home appliances company. It offers one of the most comprehensive ranges in the home appliances industry. Established in 1968, Midea is publicly listed and ranked as a Forbes Fortune 500 company (#253). The company operates in more than 195 countries.
In 2020 Midea announced its global partnership with Manchester City (EPL team). The association offered Midea global visibility in front of hundreds of millions of Manchester City fans worldwide. Throughout the league, they have launched multiple award-winning campaigns and produced highly engaging digital content, which was a hit among football fans.
The Project
To leverage its association with the Manchester City Football Club, Midea wanted to create a social media campaign to promote its Midea FIFA 22 online tournament and increase brand engagement for Midea in the Gulf region.
There are only a few thousand football fans in the stadium, but billions watch matches on their home screens. Midea used these statistics to its advantage by engaging with football fans over social media to increase brand awareness.
This season they launched “Midea FIFA 22,” an online football tournament open to all FIFA 22 players in the Gulf region. The goal was to leverage the association of Midea with Manchester City targeting the age group of 18-45 years old who are interested in gaming and sports and are fans of Manchester City Football Club.
Next Wavelength assisted Midea in creating assets required to run the social media campaigns to promote their online football tournament.
Key campaign elements
- The campaign highlighted the fun and excitement of participating in the tournament by making it possible for players in the gulf region to experience world-class football from the comfort of their homes.
- The whole concept of the campaign revolved around the theme of world-class football with Manchester City, sponsored by Midea.
- The social media posts featured eye-catching graphics, exciting tournament highlights, and interactive elements. It also features segments highlighting Midea’s association with Manchester City Football Club.
- We also created a series of video content to increase brand awareness and promote the tournament. The videos featured tournament highlights like giveaways, registration details, number of slots available, etc. along with elements of association of Midea with Manchester City.
